New Mexican Devotional Art in the Traditional Spanish Colonial Style
In addition to photographs capturing the essence of New Mexico, I am a painter, creating retablos in the traditional Spanish Colonial style. For me, this art form is another way of connecting to my faith tradition as a Catholic, as well as a way of connecting to my Hispanic New Mexican heritage. Simply put, a retablo is a piece of Catholic devotional art, depicting God/Jesus, saints, or angelic forms.
I paint with natural pigment watercolors, on gessoed boards that I prepare myself.
The original versions of each retablo are available unless otherwise specified in the product listing. Prints and cards are available for all images.
